To cash in on the 3G wave in India, Research In Motion (RIM) has launched BlackBerry Curve 9320 for Rs 15,990.
The new BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone features offers 3G connectivity backed by long battery life.
In the last few days, operators such as Reliance Communications, MTNL, Idea Cellular, Airtel, and Vodafone reduced 3G tariffs.
Reduction in 3G tariff was an important step for operators to improve 3G user base. Due to lack of availability of services, lack of enough content, availability of cost effective handsets and tariffs affected the uptake in 3G users.
The BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone will be able to generate interest among 3G users. However, the cost may be suitable for premium class only.
"The BlackBerry Curve series is extremely popular and successful in India and we are excited to bring the new BlackBerry Curve 9320 to customers here. This new Curve model is designed to make it incredibly easy for customers to be socially-connected, and we expect it will be especially popular in the youth segment," said Sunil Dutt, managing director, India at Research In Motion.
The new BlackBerry Curve 9320 is meant for Indian customers. It features built-in FM radio.
Customers can get up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 30 hours of FM radio listening or music playback with headphones.
The new Social Feeds 2.0 app is also preloaded, allowing customers to post updates to multiple social networks simultaneously and capture updates from news sources (RSS), social apps and instant messaging apps all in one consolidated view.
The integrated camera includes a flash and supports video recording, and pictures can be tagged with their location using built-in GPS.
The BlackBerry Curve 9320 comes with the new BlackBerry 7.1 OS and features Mobile Hotspot support.
